2022 heralds a new direction for Stop Live Exports.
Our decades of advocating on behalf of animals has been heard by the Albanese Government who has committed to ending live sheep exports.
This is incredible news and we should all be extremely proud of our efforts! The Committee and I cannot thank our supporters and volunteers enough for your dedication and perseverance.
Thank you, for writing to the decision makers, for sharing our communications and for attending the Human Chain event year after year, standing on the Stirling Bridge in full sun, the wind and the rain, refusing to give up on calling for an end to the cruel live animal export trade.
However, while we have cause to celebrate, our campaign isn’t over yet.
While the Albanese Government has committed to ending live sheep exports, it has not committed to doing it during its first term in government.
Therefore, our efforts are shifting from calling for an end to live sheep exports, to calling for the phase out to begin this term. Before the next Federal election. Before there’s any risk of a change of government and a change of heart.
Behind the scenes we are working closely with leading animal welfare organisations including the Australian Alliance for Animals, to define and align our strategies.
While we may be retiring the Human Chain because it has achieved its aim, moving forward we will continue to need your support as we roll out our new strategy and spring into action with a renewed focus.
Stand by for a fresh new approach as we enter this new era and join together to care, connect and change.
